Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Howl O Scream (Sideshow Square)

#1: Howl O Scream

I’d be remiss to not start off with Howl O Scream considering its my annual fall staple since I was 9.

Howl O Scream is Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s hallmark Halloween event since 1999. It sees a motley collection of haunted houses, terror-tories (scare zones/improv show hybrids), live shows, themed bars, and other entertainment depending on the year. It might be the only place on earth you can get stalked by Jack the Ripper and tormented by your favorite fairy tale all at one theme park.

And, that doesn’t even touch on the staples of amusement parks, roller coasters, thrill rides, and more.

You can get a discount on your Busch Gardens tickets (up to $25 off) through the link provided. These tickets are good for 1 year from your date of purchase and can be fully refunded with free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance of your trip.

You can read a behind the screams record on two popular Howl O Scream attractions: Sideshow Square and Ripper Row.

#2: Colonial Williamsburg

The heart and soul of Williamsburg itself, Colonial Williamsburg is a historical experience that takes you back to the olde colonial times of yesteryear. And Colonial Williamsburg during the fall is a stunning autumn experience that provides a glimpse of what the season was like centuries ago.

Museums, historic sites, gardens, and tours recount the rich history Williamsburg is known for. Carriage rides, scenic byways, and nature trails offer scenic views of the fall colors adorning the area. Correlated shopping, dining, and live entertainment (like reenactments and such) are offered too.

If you’re looking to experience the most of Colonial Williamsburg during your visit, you can book your Historic Triangle ticket for a lowest price guarantee. It includes access to Colonial Williamsburg, Historic Jamestowne, the Jamestown Settlement, Yorktown’s American Revolution Museum, and Yorktown Battlefield.

It also comes with entry for 7 consecutive days, complimentary shuttle transportation, and interpreter led tours. Free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance and you can reserve now and pay anytime up to 48 hours in advance.

#3: Colonial Ghosts

What’s a fall excursion without a ghost tale or two?

This Colonial Williamsburg ghost tour is a 1-1.5 hour long experience exploring the paranormal activity of the historical area, from the Governor’s Palace to the Peyton Randolph House. It operates rain or shine and details some of the more grim history of Williamsburg that’s said to be the source of the hauntings.

Book your tour with Colonial Ghosts here for the lowest prices available (lowest price guarantee), free cancellation for a full refund up to 24 hours in advance, and the option to reserve your tour now and pay for it anytime until 48 hours before your tour.

Williamsburg Ghosts, Witches, & Pirates Tour

#4: Williamsburg Ghosts, Witches, & Pirates Tour

Arguably one of the most unique tours in Williamsburg VA–because ghosts, witches, and pirates–this tour visits 13 of the most haunted places in Williamsburg, unveils the most famous Colonial witch, and tells the tale of Mr. Pirate & Petey the Parrot. The excursion runs 2 hours long, is hosted by an 18th century costumed guide, and is a local fan favorite attraction.

You can book your tour now and pay anytime up to 72 hours in advance. Many guests have experienced unexplainable occurrences on this tour, so the tour company recommends bringing a fully charged camera! Free cancellations are offered for a full refund up to 24 hours before your trip as well.

Back to a more traditional fall thing to do in Williamsburg, Room Escape is a thrilling escape room experience is sure to provide fun autumn entertainment as you and your group attempt to solve puzzles and complete tasks in order to “escape” the room.  It’s like a Halloween-themed Scooby-Doo episode, but you’re in the driver’s seat.
